RECYLCING ITEMS ACCEPTED*

  • Recycling placed in plastic bagswill not be picked up
  • Aluminum and Glass- Beverage and Food Cans/Jars/ Bottles- Rinsed Clean
  • Plastic Beverage/Food Bottles – Plastic #1and #2 only- Rinsed Clean
  • Newspaper, Magazine, Junk Mail, & Office Paper – no shredded paper allowed
  • Cardboard — flatten and remove all Styrofoam, which is not recyclable. Separate cardboard from commingled

  • Pizza Boxes – due to grease and residue. Cardboard must be clean to be recyclable.
  • Plastic Bags- recycle at local grocery store

YARD WASTE (Thursdays – April 13, 2023, through December 7, 2023- no exceptions)

  • Place grass clippings and shrubbery in open containers weighing no more than thirty pounds- do not put in bags
  • Tree branches, limbs, trimmings; not to exceed 3′ length or 1.5″ diameter – tie and bundle or will not be picked up

YARD WASTE ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED

  • No full trees accepted
  • No yard waste from landscaping companies

LEAVES (Thursdays – October 26, 2023, until December 14, 2023 (no collection Thursday, November 23, 2023)

  • Place leaves on tree lawn, sidewalks, or grass. Do not block sewer drains in street.

CHRISTMAS TREES (First 3 Thursdays in January: January 5, 2023; January 12, 2023; January 19, 2023)

PICKUP EXCEPTIONS– Collection will be on Tuesday not Monday for the following holidays:

Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day

OTHER RECYCLABLE ITEMS AND WHERE TO RECYCLE

  • Antifreeze, Lead-Acid Batteries, Oil: Kost Tire, 1801Wyoming Ave, 570-693-4442.
  • Auto Tires, $3 fee per tire: Kost Tire, 1801Wyoming Ave, 570-693-4442.
  • Gasoline, Mercury Light Bulbs (tubes): Lowe’s or Home Depot, please call first to verify.
  • Small Electronics (no TVs): Best Buy, check their website for what they accept in our area.
  • Tube/Flat Screen TVs: Salvation Army on Sans Souci Parkway- bring to truck in parking lot.

FREE RECYCLING EVENTS

  • On-site Paper Shredding Events – To be announced on our website.
    • Parking Lot next to Ambulance Hall (1901 Wyoming Ave) across from Borough Building, on Lincoln St
  • Free Tire Collection – Year 2023 date and location will post to our website when announced.

GARBAGE GUIDELINES

Garbage/recycling is collected on Wednesdays.

  • There is a 3 bag limit @ 30lbs. Each bag.
  • Place curbside by 6:00 a.m. On Wednesday or night before.
  • Must be in garbage bags & placed in a garbage can. (Do not use recyling bins)
  • Loose garbage in cans will not be taken. Garbage must be in a bag.
  • If a holiday falls on or before Wednesday, garbage will be picked up on Thursday. Weather issues can also delay garbage pick-up.
  • Holidays that our waste hauler is closed: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, & Christmas Day.
  • Coal ashes will be taken within limitations.
  • The cost of extra bag stickers is $3.50 per bag. Bulk stickers are $35.00 per item.
  • Box springs & mattresses have to be wrapped in plastic or they will not be taken.
  • Items that we do not take: TVs, tires, refrigerators, humidifiers, air conditioners, &
    construction materials.
